My Story

Joe Talbot, Willie J Healey, Harry & Josh cycle from London to Bristol on 27th August!

It is with great excitement and honour that Willie and I can start to give back to Empire Fighting Chance who are a charity working with our local boxing gym to support and change the lives of underprivileged children from Bristol in giving them a focus that has changed so many lives through boxing already. We are cycling from London to Bristol alongside mates Harry & Josh to start our journey with the charity and raise as much money as possible. Please please donate as much as you can to help change lives forever. Much love Joe xx

About Empire Fighting Chance

Empire Fighting Chance is a youth mental health charity combining non-contact boxing with personal development, therapy and careers support. Many of the young people they work with live in poverty and face challenges such as difficulty in or exclusion from school, involvement in gangs and crime, addiction, and chaotic home lives. In addition to these challenges, a large number face complex mental health issues, and have lived through trauma or abuse.

By using boxing to engage with young people, Empire Fighting Chance Coaches are professionally trained to deliver personal mentoring or theraputic sessions on a 1-1 basis. Their unique approach breaks down the barriers often associated with traditional forms of therapy for young people. This bespoke support enables young people to grow in confidence, improve access to education and employment, reduce their involvement in crime and enhance their wellbeing. The determination, self-esteem and perseverance gained in the boxing gym is transferred to their personal lives where young people can thrive, despite the challenges they face.

From Willie,
I’m so proud to be involved with the Empire Fighting Chance charity, boxing was and is something that changed my life in so many positive ways. To have the opportunity to introduce young people who may not have felt the love, support & self-worth that a community like Empire Fighting Chance has to offer is huge! I made lifelong friends and learnt so much about myself through boxing, it’s very important to me that we facilitate other young people have that opportunity too. Thank you for your support!
